Experience the wild.

Expeditions run regularly to areas all around the Globe, and are as diverse as parachuting in Germany to ascending and descending the three highest peaks in the U.K, in under 24 hours. Many expeditions are planned and run by our students; recent expeditions include a multi-activity trip to Canada and a three-day survival exercise in Scotland.

Most expeditions are partly- or fully-funded with minimal contribution from the student.

Adventurous Training

In the area of adventurous training also, the RAF resources make the range and nature of what is on offer unrivalled. A typical example is the adventure training week run by RAF Physical Training Instructors at Grantown-on-Spey, Morayshire, Scotland. Here, participants take part in expeditions, mountain biking, canoeing, caving and many other activities. Other training and courses available through the RAF include dinghy and tall-ships sailing, parachuting, para-gliding, skiing, sub-aqua diving, and a host of others.

Expeditions

YUAS itself organizes several expeditions each year, ranging from a few days in the wilder spots of UK to a couple of weeks in demanding overseas locations. These are in most cases initiated and organised by the students themselves, with support, advice and financial and administrative back up from the RAF's specialist staff. In addition to the many UK based events, overseas expeditions which have been undertaken by parties of YUAS students and staff have included:

- Skiing in Bavaria

- Diving in Granada

- White water rafting in Canada
